The George Washington University
The Washington Center for Psychoanalysis and The George Washington University entered into a formal Affiliation Agreement in 2013. This was renewed in 2018 with the newly merged center, The Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis (WBCP). Under this agreement the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) at GW and the WBCP officially recognized their shared interests in the field of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and undertook promoting institutional collaboration for clinical teaching, collaborative research, and other academic endeavors. This collaboration was undertaken to make optimal use of their respective resources to ultimately enhance the ability of WBCP and GW to serve their respective communities and the community at large. Currently members of WBCP are engaged in the following activities in the GW Department of Psychiatry: 1) clinical supervision of residents, 2) teaching seminars for the residents, 3) mentoring residents in Grand Rounds and other scholarly presentations, 4) mentoring residents in clinical writing projects, and 5) other continuing medical education activities.
